Channing Tatum has come on board to produce a movie version of Jason Padgett’s “Struck by Genius” for Sony Pictures.
Tatum is not attached to star at this point, but the project is being developed as a possible acting vehicle for the star, who starred in “22 Jump Street” for the studio.
Producers are Tatum, his Free Association partners Reid Carolin and Peter Kiernan and “Out of the Furnace” producer Michael Costigan.
The book, titled “Struck by Genius: How a Brain Injury Made Me a Mathematical Marvel,” was published in April. The memoir was co-written with Maureen Ann Seaberg and details the aftermath of Padgett’s 2002 injury, when he was attacked outside of a karaoke bar and suffered a severe concussion and post-traumatic stress disorder.
The injuries left Padgett, a furniture salesman, with the ability to visualize complex mathematical objects and physics concepts intuitively. Padgett is believed to be the first documented case of acquired savant syndrome with mathematical synesthesia.
Hannah Minghella will oversee “Struck by Genius” for Sony.

Tatum is set to reprise his role in Warner Bros.’ sequel “Magic Mike XXL.” He also stars in “Foxcatcher,” which opens Nov. 14.
Tatum is repped by UTA, Management 360 and Hansen Jacobson.
